The NIDA Project (Nature of Aquatic Environment: Inclusion and Rising Awareness in Diverse Societies) is an international initiative funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, bringing together partners from Turkey, Romania, and North Macedonia.
The project is coordinated by Karadeniz Technical University and implemented in collaboration with the NGO Mare Nostrum, University St. Kliment Ohridski Bitola, and Trabzon University. It runs over a period of 30 months, from December 2024 to May 2027.
The aim of the project is to raise student awareness about the importance of protecting aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity, while promoting active citizenship and ecological responsibility. NIDA seeks to create an innovative learning environment that includes modern digital tools and interactive sessions, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
The project focuses on developing an educational module about biodiversity, climate change, and sustainability, integrating practical activities such as fieldwork and creative workshops. The main target group consists of students aged 18 to 30 from diverse backgrounds, including rural and disadvantaged areas, alongside trainers specialized in environmental education.
NIDA not only promotes ecological awareness but also encourages international collaboration between institutions and organizations. By involving partners from the three countries, the project creates a platform for exchanging best practices, developing accessible educational resources, and supporting local communities in adopting sustainable solutions.
This initiative represents a step forward in environmental education, preparing a new generation of leaders capable of protecting ecosystems and contributing to building a more sustainable future.
